Infield Rving at the Derby


Each year on the first Saturday in May, Louisville, Kentucky hosts one of the most exciting parties of the year, the Kentucky Derby. This event brings thousands of people to Kentucky, and Louisville plays host to visitors from across the United States. If you are looking for an exciting, culture and fun packed vacation, a trip to Louisville during the Kentucky Derby is an excellent option.

The two weeks preceding the Kentucky Derby are filled with all of the excitement of the Kentucky Derby Festival. This festival is filled with all sorts of amazing events, including the Kentucky Oaks stakes race, and the annual fireworks display. The Thunder Over Louisville fireworks display is the largest annual fireworks display in the country. Of course, all of the excitement of the celebration preceding the Derby are just a warm-up for the main event.

On the day of the event revelers gather together throughout Churchill Downs. Some choose to watch the Derby from the stands. However, for those looking to enjoy one of the best parties of the year, the Infield at the Kentucky Derby is the place to be. The infield is packed with all sorts of spectators. Some parts of the infield are more raucous, other parts are more family oriented.

No matter what type of Derby experience you want to have, or how much you can afford, being at the Derby is an amazing experience. You should remember that since this is one of the most popular events throughout the year it is important to plan far in advance. Tickets for the seats sell out far in advance. Parking also sells out early, and the closer to the track the parking is, the more expensive it is. Hotel rooms and RV parks also fill up early.

Rving is a great way to be able to see the Kentucky Derby as well as the rest of Louisville. If you can bring a car on your RVing trip it will be even easier to navigate the traffic caused by the event. Louisville is filled with interesting attractions, and there are many options for camping and RVing right outside the city, making it easy to combine all the fun of the varying attractions as well as the excitement of outdoor recreation.

Sports fans can also visit the Louisville Slugger Museum, the factory and museum where Louisville Slugger bats are manufactured. Visitors to this museum will learn all about the bats, and even have a chance to watch the bats being produced. Louisville is also home to the Muhammad Ali Center, which is both a museum and education center.

Louisville has a wide range of stunning architecture. The Old Louisville neighborhood, which is a historic preservation district dedicated to Victorian era buildings. Louisville is also home to the Thomas Edison home in Louisville's Butchertown. It is now a museum open to the public, with a nice collection of pieces that reflect Edison's life.

The Louisville Parks System has over 120 parks in the city. Cherokee Park is one of the most visited parks in the country. It has a scenic 2-mile loop for all sorts of recreation. Visitors can also enjoy the urban forest, The Jefferson Memorial Forest. This forest is one of the largest municipal urban forests in the US. Visitors to the forest will find hiking trails, all of which are within the city limits.
