Located on 40 miles of Lake Superior, this is a true Michigan camping gem. Throughout the park there are a wide variety of natural wonders, including cliffs, sand dunes, waterfalls, lakes and more. Visitors will find plenty of activities and sites to enjoy throughout this spectacular park.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore was the first National Lakeshore and it preserves an amazing section of the lakeshore of Lake Superior. Along the shoreline there are pristine sandy beaches as well as rocky cliffs and more, perfect for exploring. Throughout the year there are beautiful sights to see, including wildflowers in the spring, fall colors in the woodlands, and the snowy vistas in the winter.

There are many points of interest throughout the park, including historic sites, waterfalls and much more. First visitors should be sure to see the attraction that the lakeshore is named for, the Pictured Rocks. This feature stretches along the lakeshore for about 15 miles. The Pictured Rocks come directly out of the lake and are a colorful and stunning sight. Visitors can hike along the North Country National Scenic Trail to see some amazing vistas of the rocks. One of the very best points for viewing the Pictured Rocks is at Miners Castle, one of the most famous rock formation in the park.

Visitors that want to see some of the sandy beaches along the lakeshore should stop at Sand Point. This sandy beach is a wonderful destination for walking and enjoying evening sunsets. Visitors can also walk on the Sand Point March Trail, which is an interpretive trail and offers good wildlife viewing. Another one of the fantastic beaches within the lakeshore is Twelvemile Beach. This beach is isolated by the Pictured Rock cliffs on one end and the Grand Sable Banks on the other end.

Another wonderful rock formations is Chapel Rock and Beach. Travelers exploring this area can walk along the trails to see Chapel Rock and also enjoy views of Chapel Lake and Chapel Falls. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is filled with beautiful waterfalls, which are great for visitors to explore. Musing Falls has a short paved trail to the canyon at the base of the falls, where visitors can enjoy the view. Visitors can also hike on the Miners Falls Nature Trial to see Miners Falls. Other wonderful waterfalls within the park include Bridalveil Falls, Mosquito Falls, Sable Falls, Spray Falls and more.

Pictured Rock National Lakeshore also has some fascinating Maritime sights. Visitors should be sure to stop at the Au Sable Light Station. This is a historic lighthouse and accompanying buildings at Au Sable Point. Visitors can explore the lighthouse and can also take the trail to the beach to see the remains of shipwrecks along the shoreline. The Au Sable Light Station is just one of a wide variety of maritime and historic points of interest within the park.

Visitors to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore will find enough points of interest to fill an entire vacation. There are many trails that lead to stunning vistas, including the pictured rocks themselves, waterfalls and more. No matter what interests visitors there is something at this wonderful destination for everyone to remember.
