Road Trip | California's South Central Coast
The cities of Ventura and Santa Barbara are fantastic Central Coast of California destinations. Santa Barbara is one of the most beautiful cities in the state. Ventura is located just south of Santa Barbara, which is located just a little less than 100 miles north of Los Angeles. Santa Barbara and Ventura a offer a more relaxed, resort feel than nearby LA. Within these two cities in California, visitors are sure to find something wonderful to enjoy.
California's Central Coast is bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains to the north. This fantastic combination creates the wonderful Mediterranean climate. Throughout the year this region has wonderful sunny days, as well as beautiful water as well. The wonderful weather makes Ventura and Santa Barbara a great place to enjoy water sports and well as the sandy beaches.
Ventura is a city filled with activities and destinations to enjoy. The city offers plenty of arts and culture, but it is really the outer activities that make this region a fantastic destination. What really makes Ventura stand out are the numerous outdoor activities. There are golf courses in the region, and its always a pleasure to play golf on a warm, but not too hot, sunny day.
Visitors to Ventura can also visit the Los Padres National Forest. This forest is an excellent destination for hiking. Throughout the forest there are many trails, including trails allowing visitors to walk the coastline. The forest allows visitors to explore beautiful pinyon juniper forests, grasslands and the stunning redwoods.
After enjoying some time hiking in the forest and playing golf, visitors can also explore the Channel Islands National Park. This park protects five of the eight islands in the Channel Islands archipelago. In addition, the National Marine Sanctuary is another excellent Ventura destination.
Once visitors have had their fill of the beautiful city of Ventura, they can trail to nearby Santa Barbara. This city and region is probably best known for the beaches. On these beaches there are many different activities for visitors to enjoy. Many of these beautiful beaches are accessible through local parks and are great for enjoying the cool ocean breezes and warm summer sun of the California Coast. There are many ocean oriented recreation, including swimming, surfing, kayaking and more.
Like Ventura, Santa Barbara is a fantastic for its arts and culture. The city is known for its fabulous wines, which are made in Santa Barbara. Visitors can take a winery tour and enjoy tastings of some of the local wines. In addition to the winery's have a fantastic festival schedule. These events include The French Festival held on Bastille Day, which is one of the largest French Festivals in the western United States.
Santa Barbara also has many museums and art collections. Visitors can learn about the history of the region and the Museum of Natural History. Another great way to learn about the region is to visit the Botanic Gardens which feature many native plants
Ventura and Santa Barbara are some amazing cities in California and on the Pacific coast. The region has excellent climate, beautiful beaches, scenery and a pleasant year-round climate. Between these two cities there are plenty of arts and cultural activities. In addition there are fabulous opportunities for outdoor recreation, from the beaches to the mountains.
