NORTH CENTRAL

History lives in North Central Idaho. This is the home of the Nez Perce Native Americans and the land crossed by William Clark and Meriwether Lewis on their historic trek to discover a route to the Pacific Ocean. In 1860, gold was found in this region. Today it holds the state’s greatest concentration of white-water rapids and is home to Hells Canyon, a gorge that’s deeper than even the Grand Canyon.
