The wild lands of Minnesota crown the northern tip of this region. Lose yourself among the loons in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, or learn to portage at Voyageurs. Fish for bass and walleye in some of the country’s best spots, or watch for beavers in the swamps and small islands. Named for the Voyageurs, the French-Canadian traders and trappers who traveled by canoe, this park is one you must see by boat or by foot. For a more remote experience, drive into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, or BWCAW, and create an adventure of your very own. Watch for black bears, timber wolves, moose, and eagles.
