Oklahoma
LAKES AND TRAILS

In this land of homesteads and reservations, wildlife hides around every bend. Look for white-tailed deer and cottontails amid the cedar and buffalo grass. Lake Texoma, at Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge, is a resting-place for hundreds of birds migrating along the Central Flyway. Watch for pelicans, grebes, sandpipers, armadillos, and opossums in the wild plum thickets.
