South Carolina
Gem of the Southern Coast
Celebrate history and natural beauty in timeless South Carolina. From the Blue Ridge mountains in the north to the beaches and marshland on the southern coast, the palmetto state is filled with delights. Bird watchers will flock to this state that boasts salt marshes, estuaries, forests, and fresh-water lakes, all filled with songbirds and waterfowl.
In the Grand Strand region, alligators dwell beside wild orchids and lilies. Further south, in the Southern Coastal region, historic Charleston holds antebellum mansions decked with jasmine. Watch for Loggerhead turtles or kayak the ACE basin. Golfers won't want to miss the chance to play where the pros tee-off, at the resort town of Hilton Head. In the Midlands region, visit Lake Marion for fishing, boating, and swimming.
