California's High Sierra is located within the Sierra Nevada range of mountains. Visitors to this region will find mountain peaks, lush forests and more recreation than any visitor could ask for. During the winter the High Sierra offers visitors amazing skiing. Travelers can also enjoy Lake Tahoe, lots of hiking and more.

The High Sierra stretches from the west, near Mariposa, to Mammoth in the east. As well as Fresno in the central region to Lake Tahoe. Each region of the High Sierra, has its own unique traits, as well as amazing destinations and more. All of the areas of the High Sierra are beautiful and home to some of California's fascinating wildlife.

Visitors to the High Sierra will find forests filled with giant sequoias. In addition, visitors to this region can stop at Yosemite National Park and Sequoias National Park. Sequoias National Park has deep canyons, and mountains. Visitors can hike on Mount Whitney, which is the highest peak in the lower 48 states. Sequoias National Park is also home to some amazing giant sequoias, including the General Grant Tree and more.

Yosemite National Park is another fantastic destination within the High Sierra. This park is an amazing destination for rock climbing enthusiasts. Climbers travel from around the world to take on the challenges presented within the park. Yosemite is also a good destination for biking, hiking, backpacking and more. This park is home to some amazing sights, like much of the High Sierra, including rock formations and waterfalls.

The High Sierra is also a great destination for winter recreation. Visitors can stop to ski at the world-class resort at Mammoth Lakes. Mammoth Mountain has excellent snow, but it also gets sun throughout the year. The ski area has trails, plenty of lifts, terrain parks, and more than 3,500 skiable acres. Mammoth Lakes is also a great destination for enjoying the beautiful High Sierra wilderness. This region is good for fishing, hiking, mountain biking and more.

Throughout the High Sierra there are plenty of opportunities for hiking. Two excellent trails that visitors can find are the Pacific Crest and John Muir Trails. These two trails take hikers through some of the most beautiful areas in the region. There are lakes, waterfalls, forests of giant sequoias, and even stunning rock formations.

Travelers in the High Sierra can also stop to enjoy all of the fun and recreation that Lake Tahoe has to offer. The lake is an amazing summer destination, with plenty of water sports, including fishing, boating, wake-boarding, water-skiing and more. Travelers can stop at Zephyr Cove, which offers excellent beach access and lots of sandy beaches. Lake Tahoe also has many excellent ski resorts, making it a fantastic winter destination. Skiers and snowboarders can stop at Squaw Valley USA, which is an amazing ski destination, with great snow and plenty of opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and even snow-shoeing.

California's High Sierra is an amazing destination. Throughout the year, travelers can enjoy a sorts of recreational activities. Visitors can enjoy skiing or snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain or Squaw Valley USA. The High Sierra is also home to Lake Tahoe, and all of the wonderful summer recreation on the lake, and home to Yosemite National Park with its amazing rock climbing opportunities, and even the beautiful giant sequoias in Sequoias National Park. This region is a wonderful year-round destination for visitors with all range of interests.
