The Canyon de Chelly National Monument is one of Arizona's true gems.Visitors will discover a vast amount of information about the landscape that has been one of the longest continually inhabited in North America. The monument preserves rock art, artifacts, architecture and much more. Canyon de Chelly also has a living community of Navajo people.

Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve, Idaho

This National Monument is 750,000 acres, and it has amazing volcanic formations. Visitors can enjoy seeing the cinder cones, lava tubes and more. The monument has good hiking, bird watching, backpacking and even caving. During the summer there are guided cave walks, and during the winter visitors can have fun snowshoeing, cross-county skiing and more.

Devils Tower National Monument, Wyoming

Devils Tower National Monument is an amazing destination in Wyoming. The Devils Tower rises over 1260 feet above the Belle Fourche River. In fact, this area was the first National Monument, created by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906. Visitors to the park can explore woodlands, grasslands and pine forests. Within these beautiful habitats there is an amazing range of wildlife to see, including prairie dogs. In addition, recreational activities about within the National Monument, including hiking on the paved Tower Trail and rock climbing.

Fort Frederica National Monument, Georgia

Fort Frederica National Monument, on St. Simons Island, preserves the remnants of Fort Frederica. This Fort played an important role of the history Georgia. In 1742 the Fort was the scene of a battle between the British and the Spanish, which the British won. This battle decided the fate of Georgia as a British Colony. Visitors to this park can learn about the history of the park, as well as explore the archeological site, as well as wonderful museum exhibits. In addition visitors can also enjoy tours, as well as programmed events throughout the year.

Fort Sumter National Monument, South Carolina

Fort Sumter is the site of the start of the Civil War. Visitors can start at the Visitor Education Center, which has many exhibits about the events and circumstances that led to the start of the Civil War at Fort Sumter. In addition the museum exhibits at Fort Sumter detail the building of the Fort and the battles waged there, and the exhibits follow the Fort through to modern history. Visitors can take the ferry to Fort Sumter and enjoy the Ranger talks offered, as well as learn about the Fort at the exhibits around the Fort.

Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, Montana

At this National Monument visitors can learn all about the history of the Battle of Little Bighorn. This park is a memorial to the U.S. Army's 7th Cavalry and the Sioux and Cheyenne and the battle that took place during June of 1876. At this spot on June 25 and 26, 1876, Lt. Col. George Custer and the U.S. Army's 7th Cavalry fought a group of Lakota and Cheyenne in the Battle of Little Bighorn. Visitors to the the Little Bighorn Battlefield can learn all about the history through the Cell Phone Audio Tour, which has walking and auto options. Throughout the National Monument there are many points of interest for visitors to learn about this point in history.

Montezuma Castle National Monument, Arizona

Montezuma Castle National Monument allows visitors to see and explore one of the best examples of cliff dwellings on the continent. There is a loop, that all visitors can enjoy, which passes around Montezuma's Castle and is a great self-guided tour. In addition, for those that want a longer program, the park rangers offer daily programs to learn about the amazing cliff dwelling.

Mount Rushmore located in the stunning Black Hills of South Dakota is a great destination for travelers interested in the history and values of America. White Sands National Monument, New Mexico

At White Sands National Monument visitors have the opportunity to experience the wonder of the white gypsum sand. The National Monument preserves a large part of the unique dune fields. This national wonder is a truly amazing sight. Located in the Tularosa Basin these beautiful white sand dunes cover 275 square miles. This is the largest gypsum dune field in the world and is a sight truly worth seeing.
