VIRGINIA

Virginia
History, Hills, and Romance
From the rolling Shenandoah Mountains to the beaches of the Atlantic coast, Virginia is a land to explore. Filled with history from tip to tail, Virginia is home to battlefields, monuments, and museums. Visit stunning Monticello in Charlottesville or tour historic Richmond, Yorktown, and Appomattox. Virginia is the home state of nine past presidents, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Woodrow Wilson.
Bird watching, boating, and hiking are all popular Virginia activities. Watch for golden eagles, foxes, and bobcats in the mountainous northern and western regions, or hunt for crabs on the coastal beaches. See wild horses at Assateague Island National Seashore. Visit vineyards, farms, and picturesque small towns in the Piedmont, or Central region, pausing for dinner in one of Virginia's larger cities. If time allows, spend a day or a week in the nation's capital, just a hop, skip, and jump from Virginia's northern region.
