METRO VALLEY

West Virginia
METRO VALLEY

The Great Kanawha Valley produces the coal, oil, and natural gas that makes the mines of West Virginia so famous. Those commodities are traded in Charleston, the capital, and Huntington, a town founded by a railroad tycoon. Today this region offers plenty of outdoor adventures in addition to a glimpse of its industrial history. Watch for warblers, red-shouldered hawks, flycatchers, and thrushes at Kanawha State Forest, or deer, eagles, and fox at Beech Fork. Beech Fork Lake is also known for its walleye, bass, and bluegill fishing.
