Indiana

Indiana

Indiana
Land of Lincoln
Nestled between Lake Michigan to the north and the Ohio River to the south, Indiana - the Hoosier state - is a boater's paradise. Rivers and lakes fill the countryside, providing habitat for deer, turkeys, wood ducks, river otters, and Canada geese. Bird watchers should look for egrets, cardinals, chickadees, and woodpeckers alongside Indiana's streams.

In the state's very center lies Indianapolis, the capital and home to the Indy 500. Stop in for a taste of speed, then head north to the sand dunes along Lake Michigan, or south to the cliffs and rolling hills near the Ohio River. Look for fossils on its banks, or watch the birds migrating overhead. Hunt for antiques in small farming towns, or howl with the wolves at the Battle Ground Wolf Park. Whatever you do, keep your eye on the time - not every county in Indiana observes daylight savings time and the state contains two different time zones (central and eastern).
