Small hamlets, big woods, and fall color define this region of Pennsylvania. Sitting on the edge of Lake Erie, named for the Erie Indians, this area contains the state’s only "seashore" at Presque Isle State Park, a sandy peninsula that juts into the lake. Further east, the Allegheny National Forest is one of the last remnants of the woods that used to cover most of the country. Look for deer, bears, wolves, elk, and bald eagles.
