Wine enthusiasts are sure to love a trip to Virginia. The state is filled with over 200 wineries and 16 wine trails, which allow visitors to enjoy the region's wine and scenery all at once. These trails are located throughout the state, and visitors can enjoy a wine road trip wherever they may decide to go in Virginia. Here are a few of the fantastic wine trails found throughout the state.

Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail

The beautiful Chesapeake Bay is filled with destinations, both historic and modern. While exploring this region, Virginia visitors can spend some time on this wonderful wine trail. As visitors travel along this wine trail they can enjoy a variety of river shorelines, as well as some excellent wineries. This wine trail features twelve wineries, each with their own tasting hours, travelers should make sure to take some time to explore these wineries, which include the Oak Crest Vineyard and Winery, the Belle Mount Vineyards, The Hague Winery, Jacey Vineyards, The Dog and Oyster, the New Kent Winery and many more.

Eastern Shore Wine Trail

Virginia's Eastern Shore is another region filled with wonderful things to do. Visitors to this region can enjoy the wine trail, which includes three vineyards, which offer wonderful tasting opportunities. Before or after spending time exploring Chincoteague Island, travelers can stop at Bloxom Winery, Chatham Vineyards and Holly Grove Vineyards.

Foothills Scenic Wine Trail

Located in Northern Virginia, at the edge of Shenandoah National Park, visitors to Virginia will find two fantastic wineries. After spending time exploring the beauty of Shenandoah National Park, travelers can take a break to explore these two family-run wineries. Visitors are sure to love their experience at Sharp Rock Vineyards and DuCard Vineyards along this wine trail.

Heart of Virginia Wine Trail

Travelers in the Richmond area of Virginia can enjoy the Heart of Virginia Wine Trail. Visitors will find a variety of wineries, and if travelers plan on enjoying this wine trails there is a wonderful passport ticket option, which makes tastings at each winery much more affordable. This region's wineries include Cooper Vineyards, Grayhaven Winery, James River Cellars Winery and Lake Anna Winery.

Monticello Wine Trail

This Wine Trail is another fantastic option in Central Virginia. Along this trail travelers can enjoy 21 wineries. This region of Virginia accounts for a large portion of the state's wineries, and is a wonderful option for enthusiasts. The wineries that travelers along this wine trail will discover are small and high quality, making it a truly fantastic tasting experience. The Monticello Wine Trail is broken into four smaller trails, making the 21 wineries a bit more manageable. The Northern, Eastern, Western and Southern trails each have amazing wineries, which wine enthusiasts won't want to miss.

Shenandoah County Wine Trail

The Shenandoah Valley is filled with beautiful destinations and scenery. Another way to enjoy all that this region has to offer is to take some time to explore the wine trail here. Each winery is unique, offering a different view into Virginia's wine making industry. The Shenandoah County Wine Trail features one of the oldest wineries in the state, Shenandoah Vineyards. In addition travelers along this wine trail will stop at North Mountain Vineyard and Winery, Wolf Gap Vineyard and Cave Ridge Vineyard. Each of these wineries is situated in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, offering view of the mountains and views of the valley, all while enjoying delicious, locally produced wines.
