Gear List for Beach Camping
Beach camping is a fantastic way to really enjoy the recreation that the beach has to offer. It offers campers a completely different camping experience. In addition to some of the usual camping items campers will need to be prepared with a few specific items for their beach camping experience. Here is a basic beach camping gear guide to get you started packing for your beach camping trip.
- Tent and all accompanying equipment
- Tarp to place under the tent to protect from water
- Rain fly or tarp to cover the tent in the event of rain or spray from the beach
- Tent Anchors to secure the tent in case of wind, small bags filled with sand and buried work well
- Rope, works well as a clothesline and serves many other purposes
- Sleeping Bags
- Sleeping Mat or Mattress
- Blankets and Pillows
- Camp Chairs
- Small Broom, this will make it much simpler to remove any sand that got into your tent during the day
- Saw
- Knife or Multi-Tool
- First Aid Kit, double check that your kit is complete before leaving
- Maps and Local trail guides
- Flashlights and Lanterns, be sure to bring extra fuel for your lanterns
- Matches
- Firewood
- Camp Stove and Cooking Equipment
- Water Bottles
- Water, bring plenty of water because you may not have easy access to facilities while beach camping
- Food, plan ahead for your meals and bring plenty of food for your trip
- Trash Bags, be prepared to practice Leave-No-Trace camping while beach camping
- Dish Soap, Pan and Sponge, in order to limit garbage bring reusable dishes and be prepared to wash them
- Toilet Paper, it is possible that there may be no facilities while beach camping
- Shovel
- Sunscreen, which is especially important during the summer when the sun is strongest
- Sunglasses, also important for sun safety to protect your eyes
- Hat
- Beach Umbrella
- Insect Repellant
- Towels, when traveling to the beach it is best to pack extra towels as a precaution
- Personal Health and Hygiene items, including any medication needed as well as soap and shampoo
- Clothing, be prepared for changing weather, which means bringing clothes for rain and layering
- Bathing Suits, an essential item if you are planning on enjoying the beach atmosphere
- Beach play items, this can include a frisbee, snorkels, wind surfing equipment and any other activity you plan on enjoying during your beach trip
- Life Jackets, if you plan on playing on the water or going boating it is essential to have a life jacket for each person in your party
