NORTH CENTRAL

Montana
NORTH CENTRAL

Herds of bison once roamed the grasslands and "badlands" of north central Montana. In fact, Ulm Pishkun State Park is the site of the largest buffalo jump, or kill site, in the nation. In the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge, you can see plenty of living creatures: elk, deer, pronghorn, bighorn sheep, bobcats, coyotes, and birds such as meadowlarks, plovers, and falcons. For the superb wildlife viewing, try "the Bob," Bob Marshall Wilderness Area. Birders can watch for hawks, falcons, owls, grouse, and woodpeckers.
